How to read the flags. "X2D main" is the direct-drive nozzle, which handles nearly everything. "X2D aux" is the Bowden-fed support nozzle, which Bambu recommends you keep for support material and official PLA. Anything flexible or fiber-filled stays off the aux side.
Which dryer, and why it matters. The AMS 2 Pro tops out at 65 °C, and it caps itself lower when a low-temp spool is loaded alongside, roughly 45 °C with PLA present and 55 °C with PETG. The AMS HT reaches 85 °C with a 170 W heater and holds it reliably, which covers nylon, PC, PET-CF and the fiber composites that the AMS 2 Pro can only half-dry. Each card shows which unit does the job. A handful of materials, PPA and PPS mainly, need above 85 °C and cannot be fully dried in either unit. Watch the spool itself too: thin cardboard and weak plastic spools can deform at 85 °C.
Two AMS HT details worth knowing. The port at the rear of the top cover is a dedicated TPU outlet, built because soft filament defeats normal AMS feeding. Load the spool, push it manually through the PTFE to the extruder, and standard 95A TPU works without a bare external spool. Separately, the AMS HT uses ceramic filament inlets rated 1200 Vickers, so abrasive fiber-filled spools wear it far more slowly than they would an AMS 2 Pro. The drying function only runs while the unit is connected to the printer and the printer is powered on, and the AMS HT needs its own AC power.
Reading the heat, water and chemical ratings. "Holds to" on each card is the approximate maximum continuous service temperature, which is the number that matters for a part in a car or near a motor, not the nozzle temperature. Water rating covers the printed part in use: 5 means fine submerged indefinitely, 1 means keep it dry. This is separate from how thirsty the filament is on the spool, so nylon rates badly for wet service despite printing into a strong part, while PETG rates top despite needing careful drying before it goes in. Chemical rating covers fuels, oils and solvents. Polycarbonate scores lowest because it stress-cracks on contact with hydrocarbons and brake fluid, which is why it is a poor engine bay choice despite its heat number looking good.
About the Kuwait prices. Taken from SWBAC and Print3dkw in August 2026, showing the cheapest spool of each material rather than every colour and size. Where a shop lists a range across variants, the low end is shown. Several Print3dkw lines were out of stock when checked, and sale prices move, so treat these as a guide to relative cost rather than a quote. 30 of the 54 materials here are available locally. The rest need importing.
Decoding the names on local spools. Shops rename the same materials constantly, so match the base resin and ignore the marketing word. "Pro", "Plus" and "PRO+" usually mean a toughened blend with better layer adhesion, but the heat limit of the base resin is unchanged, so PLA PRO+ still softens around 60 °C. "Hyper", "HF" and "High Speed" mean a formulation tuned to hold quality at high flow rates, which suits the X2D well. "ECO" is a budget line. "Core-CF" and "Carbon Fiber" both mean a fiber-filled version, so read them as the CF card. Silk, Matte, Pastel, Dual Color and Tri Color are all finish variants of the same underlying plastic.
Reading the Shore numbers on flexibles. The A scale runs soft to hard, so a lower number is squishier. Roughly: 60A is a rubber band, 85A is a shoe sole, 90A is a phone case, 95A is a skateboard wheel, and Bambu's TPU for AMS sits harder still at around 68D, which is off the top of the A scale entirely. Anything below about 90A gets progressively harder to feed, which is why 90A and 95A cover most real projects. The page lists representative grades rather than every hardness on the market, so treat the nearest entry as your guide.
Track switch warning. If you're running more than one AMS through the filament track switch, Bambu strongly discourages PLA Aero and ASA-CF, and flags PLA-CF and PLA Glow as load and unload failure risks. Feed those from a direct slot or an external spool.
